From the Office of Anakpawis Representative Crispin Beltran
News Release July 29, 2005

GMA as country’s First Lady of Jueteng

Anakpawis Representative Crispin Beltran today said that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will never be allowed to heave a sigh of relief and say "thank God the crisis has passed" because the charges of corruption and electoral fraud against her will continue to strengthen.

"Mrs. Arroyo will continue to be hounded by various scandals and controversies and these will not stop until she is forced out of office," he said. "Now it’s slowly being exposed as that side from being the mastermind of the biggest electoral fraud caper in recent history, she’s also a jueteng lord – or rather, a jueteng Lady," he said.

The veteran labor leader turned lawmaker said that even as the allies of Mrs. Arroyo stall the impeachment process in the House of Representatives and throw various legalistic monkey wrenches in its way, the jueteng investigations in the Senate will provide the public will even greater reasons to demand the removal of the corrupt and illegitimate presidency. He said that there was no more salvaging the reputation nor the credibility of the illegitimate incumbent, and no propaganda blitz campaign will be able to erase the image of Mrs. Arroyo as electoral cheat and now jueteng First Lady.

"This was an inevitable development. Already Mrs. Arroyo’s husband, eldest son and brother-in-law are charged with being jueteng lords and beneficiaries of multi-millions from the illegal numbers game, so it doesn’t come as a surprise at all that Pres.Arroyo herself is involved in jueteng."

"There’s truth in the adage that where there’s smoke there’s fire. Even when she was still senator and eventually vice-president, Mrs. Arroyo’s name has already been linked to big-time jueteng. Her electoral campaign paraphernalia has been alleged to have been purchased and disseminated using jueteng money. Now it’s going to be revealed whether the jueteng funds were donations from jueteng lord/family friends, or if they were actual profits and kickbacks of members of the heads of the First Family," he said. #
