"Amboy’ Ramos saves "Amgirl Gloria" in bid to insinuate self in highest office of the land
Anakpawis Representative Crispin Beltran today said that former president FidelV.Ramos has self-serving political reasons as to why he has come to the rescue of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He said that the ex-president was keen on involving himself once more in the intensifying political developments in the country because he wants to return to power – even vicariously.
"Ramos has always credited and shown himself to be a mentor to Macapagal-Arroyo, and the latter for her part has been consistent on taking Ramos’ advice Both are certifiable allies of US political and economic interests in the country, with Ramos being an ‘Amboy’ proud of having gone to Westpoint, while Macapagal-Arroyois constantly harping on being a graduate of Georgetown University and a former classmate of ex-president Bill Clinton. The Amboy and Amgirl are now teaming up in a campaign to resist the Filipino people’s demand for a change in leadership," he said.
The veteran labor leader turned lawmaker said that the Ramos and Arroyo were like two peas in a pod. "When Ramos was in power, he was the main proponent of economic liberalization policies that opened the country to the plunder of opportunist foreign investors. These same policies of deregulation, liberalization and privatization are the ones that form the cornerstone of Macapagal-Arroyo’s economic programs."
"Both are also proponents of foreign policies that compromise and even violate the country’s sovereignty and independence laws."
Beltran pointed out that ex-president Ramos does not carry as much political clout as he used to, and he is, in fact, already a spent political force. "Many Filipinos have not forgotten the dismal failure of Ramos’ Philippines 2000 program, and Ramos’ involvement in the corrupt business arrangement with independent power producers (IPPS) that plunged the country into a series of nationwide blackouts and, up to now, ensure that electricity rates are still anomalous and exorbitantly high."
"Ramos is not in a position to say who should or shouldn’t lead this country. He has had his turn at the wheel and he drove the country towards the path of economic ruin. Whatever his reasons for supporting Pres. Arroyo at this juncture can only be self-serving in nature. He must have ulterior motives for doing this, and these motives will be no doubt revealed in the coming days. He wants another turn at the bat, and we won’t allow that. He already struck out."
"As for Pres. Arroyo, if it’s only the likes of Ramos who’s standing by her, then she’s certainly doomed. She should resign now and make things easier for herself. The entire nation is uniting against her and demanding her immediate removal from Malacanang. She should at least make at attempt at an honorable exit and resign now."#
