Party-list candidates of party-lists exposed of Malacanang-fronts urged to pull out of elections out of delicadeza
Anakpawis Representative and political detainee Crispin Beltran today reacted to reports that there are 499 pro-Arroyo individuals an allies in the 91 party-lists vying for seats in the upcoming polls, saying that these individuals should bow out of the race out of 'delicadeza.'
"Their main legislative agenda is not primarily to promote the interest of the marginalized sectors they supposedly represent through their party-lists, but to promote Malacanang's legislative agenda and make the House of Representatives even more of an instrument of the executive," he said.
"These candidates whose main loyalties are to Pres. Arroyo and her adminsitration should not have participated in the party-lists elections buts instead should have joined the congressional district polls. The essence of the party-list elections and party-list representation is being twisted and manipulated in favor of Malacanang."
"Sana umatras na lang sila at ihinto na ang panlilinlang sa publiko at sa mga botante. Mga sugo sila ng Malacanang at tanging ang agenda ng Malacanang ang isususulong nila sa kongreso. Talo dito ang mamamayang Pilipino dahil bangga sa kanilang interes at kagalingan ang legislative agenda ng gobyernong Macapagal-Arroyo," he said.
The activist lawmaker exhorted the party-lists exposed as Malacanang fronts to pull out of the elections "If they still have an iota of social conscience and genuine concern for the marginalized sectors," he said.
"These men and women candidates are allowing themselves to be used by Malacanang in its bid to quash all chances of another impeachment campaign being launched against the illegitimate president. The rest of their proclamations that they want to make a difference for the sectors they supposedly represent are all just talk. Malacanang fielded them and their party-lists with the main objective of confusing the public and distracting tehm from supporting the genuine and progressive party-lists."
